The Cinergy Video Assist module is an add-on that allows script supervisors and shot loggers
to view the camera’s video tap directly on their computer screen. This allows easier monitoring
of continuity and shot descriptions. Snapshots can be captured at one or more points during a take,
and those snapshots appear directly on the shot logging reports and various Cinergy reporting screens.
The add-on comes standard with the Cinergy Suite. Current owners of the Cinergy Suite receive
the add-on free of charge by performing an online update using the Cinergy UpdateWizard. The Video Assist module is
available for purchase for owners of a Cinery On The Set module.
Cinergy Video Assist requires a video capture card or onboard video input port compatible
with Microsoft DirectX technology.
The hardware connections shown in the image below include two separate data inputs:
1. Video for Cinergy VideoAssist (Left Path)
The DV-Bridge converts analog video to digital video because
the Sony VAIO Laptop's video input is DV, while most camera
video taps and video assist systems are analog.
2. SMPTE Timecode (Right Path)
The timecode converter converts an analog timecode signal
to digital data readable by a computer's serial port.
